Ashok Khandelwal has been a foot soldier of the UK Health Services for over 40 years. A trained Occupational Therapist, he joined NHS in 1976 and since then until his retirement in 2015 he has provided front line services in health, Social care and probation services. He was one of the very few with allied health qualifications to become a Clinical Director in history of NHS. With his dynamic leadership skills and deep passion for the development of community led services he was instrumental in converting old people hospitals in to Community Rehabilitation units.
His commitment to improve health and well-being of the population led him to use his spare time to promote integrated health and social care working with voluntary sector along with faith and hard to reach deprived communities as the best way to bridge the gaps of health inequality.
In recognition of his work he was chosen as steering committee member of the Board of Blackpool’s Fairness commission. He joined as founder member of the National forum for the health and well-being and was responsible for organizing three Health and Well-being Fairs in Lancashire and one more recently in 2019 in Bedford.
Ashok has an extensive strategic and management experience of Health, Social care and Criminal justice system and has worked at Senior Management level in Health, social care and Probation Services. He has vast voluntary sector experience and is currently Chair of ACCM(UK) a local Charity. In recognition of his strategic experiences, he was offered post of Hon. Director of Operation and International affairs for BAPIO, subsequently he became Executive Board member of BTA (BAPIO Training Academy) Ashok is also a board Director for local Health watch. He represents Health watch in local Health and well-being Committee and few other strategic groups.
